A rare opportunity to collectively exhibit, this exhibition sees some artists swap walls, fences and bodies for canvas and connects old and new, celebrating new beginnings for us all to whakanuia (celebrate).

Matariki signals the arrival of the Māori New Year and begins with the rising of the Matariki star cluster. It is a wonderful chance for us to māharatia (reflect), whakanuia (celebrate) and wawatatia (aspire) – bringing light and togetherness to the winter months. Now is also a time for us to manaaki tangata (look after one and other), connect and celebrate new beginnings and new life.

For many, celebrating Matariki begins with being grateful for what we have, including the everyday things we sometimes take for granted, like the beauty of nature and connecting with our whanau and friends. Matariki is a perfect time to get together and/or reach out to loved ones. A time for renewal, for enjoying nature, and recharging our wairua (spirit).

We invite you to contribute to the exhibition by creating and placing stars in honour of Matariki, in a growing installation.

Nō reira, ngā mihi maioha, our thanks and appreciation to Kiwibank for sponsoring this exhibition.
VIEWING TIMES: 10am  – 2pm, Monday – Friday, Kiwibank Paraparaumu, 100 Coastlands Parade.
