Eco Dye Workshop for Beginners
Eco Dyeing (also called leaf print or eco print) is a direct contact dye method drawing out pigments from leaves into fabric. In this full day workshop with artist Birgit Moffat, you will learn about how to successfully eco dye on protein fibres (silk). You will go for a short walk around her studio in Ōtaki Gorge to collect some plant material, which will then be used to create eco bundles. Let’s get wild!

Included in the workshop fee are silk fabrics to explore and experiment with and one silk scarf to eco dye and a handout with mordant recipes, dye plants, tips, sources etc. Tools and materials for the workshop are provided; a ‘what to bring list’ will be sent out closer to the workshop.
